Sleep Study Preparation GuideGoing for a sleep study is a bit different than many diagnostic procedures. It is important for our patients to be comfortable, and that the technician is able to apply the sensors required to acquire the best possible physiological signals. In order to make your trip to the sleep lab as stress-free and productive as possible, we provide the following checklist.
Electrodes, sensors, and belts will be attached to you to measure your breathing pattern, sleep stages, oxygen levels, body movements and heart tracings. The sleep report will be left for interpretation and then forwarded to the ordering physician. This process can take up to 7-10 days. Your technician is not allowed to provide a diagnosis in the morning. There is a shower facility available if you wish to shower in the morning. For your safety as well as the safety of others, please do not drive while sleepy. If you are sleepy before leaving the sleep laboratory, please inform us. We will gladly make arrangements fo ryou to continue sleeping at the facility or to call transporatation for you in the event that this would occur. It is very important that any insurance pre-certification requirements are met and that any referrals are obtained prior to the study. All services are also subject to your deductible and/or co-insurance with your plan. Please be advised that many insurance companies require a minimum recording time in order for the study to qualify for reimbursement.
