Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I really spend the night in your lab?

Yes.  We strive to provide a comforatable hotel-like experience for our patients.  You will have a private room with a bed, TV, and locker to secure any valuables.

So you're going to apply sensors to my head - is that safe?

Yes, these gold-cup electrodes are completely safe.  They are only used to sense electrical activity from your brain.  They DO NOT apply any current to your scalp.  All of our equipment is checked and maintained bi-annually and protected by medical grade isolation transformers that comply to the same standards as a hospital setting.

Will you be able to see my dreams/read my thoughts?

No.  The sensors will only allow us to see changes in voltage coming from your brain to allow your technician to see which stage of sleep you are in.

What should I bring?

Please see our section on Sleep Study Preparation for details on what you should bring.

How am I supposed to sleep with all of that equipment connected to me?

We find that most of our patients adapt quickly to the sensors and have little trouble falling asleep.  We hope that you will, too!
